MANASSAS, Va. — Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative has opened applications for area public, private or home-schooled high school sophomores or juniors for the annual National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Youth Tour, June 10-14, 2018, to see government in action.
NOVEC will select five students who are interested in government and history. Students will be selected based on their grades, a written essay, and a short interview. Their parents or guardians must receive electric service from NOVEC.
The selected students will join more than 1,800 students from across the nation in the all-expenses-paid tour. They will meet congressional representatives, tour museums, visit historic sites and memorials, and enjoy special events and entertainment.
In February 2019, the students will spend a day at the Virginia General Assembly in Richmond. There, they will meet with their state legislators and tour the Virginia State Capitol and the Executive Mansion.
