MANASSAS, Va. – Two local organizations have recognized Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative for corporate citizenship in recent weeks.
On May 24, the Prince William County Arts Council presented NOVEC with the Kathleen K. Seefeldt Awards for Art Excellence award in the Business Supporter category. NOVEC has been honored with four Seefeldt awards for its continued support of artists and art organizations in the region.
On June 14, at its Annual Chairman’s Luncheon in Tysons Corner, the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce selected NOVEC, Attain, Holland & Knight LLP, Knight Point Systems, and Van Metre Companies as finalists among 17 nominees for the chamber’s Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Year award in the mid-size business category. Van Metre Companies won the top award.
“Presented across seven categories, the awards honor extraordinary business leadership and above-and-beyond corporate social responsibility,” a June 14 chamber news release said.
“We’re proud to honor these companies, non-profits and individuals, which embody the strong commitment to community common throughout Northern Virginia businesses,” said Northern Virginia Chamber President & CEO Jim Corcoran. “Through their leadership and corporate social responsibility efforts, they make meaningful contributions to the well-being of our community.”
“Concern for community is a foundational principle for all cooperatives,” explained Mike Curtis, NOVEC vice president of Public Relations. “At NOVEC, we firmly believe investing in and volunteering with organizations and causes that enrich our customers’ lives is the right way to do business.”
