MANASSAS, Va. – The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative’s group of employee volunteers, NOVEC HELPS, is collecting new unwrapped toys, teen gifts, and wrapping supplies for the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots project.
Donations may be dropped off 8:15 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday-Friday through Dec. 11at these NOVEC offices:
10323 Lomond Drive
Manassas, VA 20109
14500 Minnieville Road
Woodbridge, VA 22193
Jim Chesley, vice chairman of NOVEC’s board of directors, is working with NOVEC HELPS on the drive through the Clifton Lions Club and Dominion Cruisers. He says, “The Toys for Tots Foundation always receives toys for toddlers and children under 10, but they also need gifts for older children who often watch their younger brothers and sisters open gifts while there’s little for them.” Chesley suggests donating such items as books, backpacks, board games, bath gift sets, hand-held electronics, and winter hats, scarves, and gloves.
In addition to gifts, Toys for Tots also needs wrapping paper, tape, ribbon, and gift bags — especially extra-large bags that can cover a bicycle or tricycle.
The Marine Corps Reserve is a 501(c)(3) organization that uses the annual charity drive to “motivate less fortunate children to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.”
